ASAP - The project " Alkalization as Efficient Slurry Treatment reduces Ammonia and Methane Emissions as well as Slurry storage capacities and enables P-Recycling " is a joint project of the University of Bonn, Magdeburg-Stendal University of Applied Sciences and SF-Soepenberg GmbH funded by the German Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture. The aim of the project is to alkalize slurry in a controlled process so that plant nutrients such as nitrogen and phosphorus can be recycled and refined into valuable plant fertilizer. In addition, this process also has the advantage of reducing greenhouse gas emissions released by slurry. We were able to show, that during an eight-week storage period, emissions of methane and carbon dioxide were reduced by 99% and those of nitrous oxide by 60% when the slurry was previously alkalized to a pH of 10. |
